This is similar to what I experienced while redoing my supension. I was using upper ball joints are TRW (Chrysler type) that screw into the upper tubular A arm. These are used a lot in Circle track racing which is where the various parts were sourced from for the redesign of my suspension. Anyway I ended up having the tapered holes in the Mustang II spindles reamed with a reamer that had the correct angle to match that of the ball joint. Circle track chassis builder or machine shop should be able to help you.
