I have a push button starter and no key. Instead I have a remote power kill switch that is activated via remote control, so if you don't have the key fob you can not turn on the electric to the car, and therefor can not start it. In case the remote power on/off is not working (remote control is lost or not working) then there is a hidden button that will turn the power on and off. This hidden button could be repalced by a keyed switch for a little more protection.
