You do not want to cross drill the crankshaft. This was mainly done because of the design of the old cranks and this was one of the only ways to get the
oil to the center of the crankshaft where the
oil holes for the rods had been drilled to. You need to use the NASCAR style as it is referred to most of the time which is pretty much the way all of the SBC and SBF stuff was drilled.
