I did not remove the diff from my car but had I removed the axles it would have dropped out. Take a look/feel and find out if your car has nuts or nut plates on the front mounts. If it has nuts it will be easier in the long run to remove the trans tunnel to acess the nuts. Since you have a late car you probably have nut plates so you most likely won't work so hard getting your front mount back in..
