Gordon is correct about the time factor. It is
labor intensive to say the least. I disagree with the material
costs. I get wholesale and it is not that cheap. I recently
purchased enough to do a complete paint job and it came to more
like $1200, That includes all the sandpaper discs, primer, filler, paint, thinner, hardener, and filters etc. Go buy a gallon of red premium auto paint. That will show you how rediculis costs are. Preperation is
the secret. The better the prep the better the job will be. There is a reason
the Kirkhams charge 5K for a satin finish ... it's all time and they
spend no money for paint. They buy plenty of those sanding discs and scotchpads though ...
