You can use a solid lifter cam in you engine by using shell type lifters available at DSC for around $85 a set. That's what I use in my FE (Fairlane). I have a 282S Comp Cam. The shell type somewhat seal off the oil passages and keep them from flooding the lifter bores with oil. A nice alternative to plugging up the block to run barbell type solid lifters.
