Comp cars were a single Holley, Most SC's were 2X4"s, with INDIVIDUAL S&H air cleaners.

Street 427's, i.e. 3100 to 3200 were 2X4's with the S&H air cleaners.

3200 to approx. 3300 were 428's, with a single Holley, and large 289 Hipo type air cleaner.

My understanding is that from 3300 to the end,427's were once again being installed, possible urban legend ?

The oval cast alum 2X4 Cobra air cleaner, that was like the 427 Galaxie, and or Thunderbolt air cleaner was strictly for GT 500, and over the counter applications.

The first year datasheet on the 427 street claimed 2x4 as standard equipment...the second year flyer said "2x4 carb", but the detail sheet called out 1x4 as standard equipment.

Many of the unmolested 428's have 1x4 original.
