For a '67 Fairlane, you probably want the factory style valve covers which have a relieved or flattened or notched (however you want to refer to it) valve cover on the driver's side for just this reason.

I believe Master Power Brakes has a smaller diameter master cylinder for that application which might solve your problem. But I'm not sure of that.
