Sal,

They cost about $1,000.00. You need to drive with the key gizmo within 2 feet of the unit. I have had 3 false alarms so far in about a year.

The biggest thing to remember is that they have to be moving for about fifteen minutes before the first alarm goes off. A smart would-be thief only moves for about 12 minutes at a time. He could be a long way off in a couple of 12 minute spurts.

Here's the sequence:

1-If the car has motion for fifteen minutes, you get a phone call from Lojack
2-You determine if the car is gone or not
3-You call the Lojack number to report it
4-The local police are informed
5-They try to find somebody who knows how to use the tracking equipment
6-The police try to find an officer interested in following the tracking.

If you detect a note of cynicism in all this, it's probably because of my experience with the Long Beach police. They showed very little interest in helping "some rich guy with a nice toy that got boosted" (yawn, now where was that fried chicken?).

You hear the stories from Lojack, now you have "the rest of the story".

Brian
