Those longer than 90" are one way of gaining increased footroom for taller drivers. There are other ways of handling this with the correct 90" wheelbase, by adjusting the pedals for example, like ERA, or altering the floorpan, like Superformance.

The question is whether to be correct and true to the original, a route taken by several, including ERA.

There is easily happiness and credibility beyond that which is "correct and true to the original."
