First hand knowledge: Chinese electronics manufacturers commonly scavange chips and parts off of failing boards and reuse them in production electronics. (Like that computer you're using, Lowell W...)

Why is this bad? Soldering parts onto boards stresses the parts. They're designed for this. What they are not designed for is to be pulled off (again with high amounts of high heat) and then soldered again. This repetitive heat cycling reduces the lifetime of the chip, and may induce intermittent failures (which are a SOB to trouble shoot!). I wouldn't buy Chinese electronic devices of any sort.

...And they call ME Dangerous...
