Default Anti freeze stain

I know this sounds strange, but it is all I can figure out. My kid did some work on his car on my lift. Lost some anti freeze and it stayed in the drip pan. I pulled my car back in on the lift and the next day I raise my hood and my Alum engine is stained a goldish/brown tint! All I can think of is the fumes from the evaroration of the anti freeze caused it. Ever heard of this - how the heck do I get it off. I tried a little Mothers on it and it will take it off, but I hope that is not the only way!
