As Woodz428 explained, all that is required to do this is the remove the cam assembly which slides off the inner shaft after the wire "C" clip under the rotor is removed. Then remove the point plate and the plate from the later distributor fits in and is held down by 2 screws. Ford used the existing inner shaft. All the parts from a late 70s 302 distributor will fit inside the old body (1958 and later) and can be easily retrofitted. The only downside is getting the advance curve dialed in as it requires complete disassembly to access the advance mechanism.
