I've read lots of stuff about overheating, especially with big blocks. I recently install a 427 (stroked 351). I had overheating problems. I was going to try the aluminum radiator route, but instead, installed a small shroud between the top of the radiator and the body, forcing the air to go through, instead of up and over the radiator. I also contacted B&B and had them send me the two additional fans for the front of the motor. You may find something cheaper, but the B&B comes with the correct brackets, and is very easy to install. So now I have the copper radiator that came with the car, a 16" puller fan that came with the car, the shroud, and the two front fans. No problems. The shroud alone made a huge difference. I have the two fans on a separate switch, and have only had to use them in serious stop and to traffic. Since I did all of this, I have never run over 200 degrees.
