Default Sohc stuff

Hello guys. Ron, thanks for posting those pictures. There are still a few to come, and I was waiting to comment on them until they were all posted. I will run through the pictures posted and add comments. The first picture is of all the Dove components assembeled, to give you an overview of what it will look like. There are a few more pictures that show the intake better. The intake looks like a tunnelwedge to a certain extent, it is a Ford xe casting. The tops are interchangable, the one pictured is for a blower setup. There is another picture that shows it with no top, and also one that shows the dual quad adaptor that will come with the kit. This is a SOHC only piece, no pushrod holes. The next few pictures show top end stuff. The rockers are beefy mothers, they should be pretty much unbreakable. They will come fully assembled, with the rollers and adjusters. The cams come semi-machined, as shown. They will need to have the lobes ground, and heat treated. Crane is a good place to go for this, they have over 20 profile for the SOHC motor. The round cylinders next to the cams are the rocker spacers. They will be split, and use e-clips to retain them. A close-up of the timing cover snuck in there next. The timing cover will be plain, with just a Ford casting number. No more Dove logos anywhere.
Next a few shots of the Dove block. People had stated they had never seen a Dove block, so here it is. The pan rails and webs are very thick, so are the decks. The SOHC version will look identical, just less machining. No reason to machine the lifter bores, or the rear cam bores on a SOHC motor. It will have the drainback holes for the heads.
Next is a pile of SOHC heads with some wedge stuff hanging around. A few are finish machined old castings, and a few of the new raw castings. They are changing the casting process to get a higher yield of good castings. They currently get around a 75% yield of good stuff. The bad part is that often you can't see the flaws until it is completly machined, which is a waste of time and money. The new raw castings look much better. The molds are filling better with no obvious external flaws. They are going to section a few, to check for cross section thickness. If it looks good, they will machine some, and see what they look like. Time will tell, but we are deffinately going in the right direction. I think it will be about 6 months before finished kits start rolling out. Next a few wedge blocks and a pile of SOHC cams.
