Thanks for the detailed explanation SVTCOBRA. I assumed it was just the unburnt fuel in the sidepipes igniting (just like when you see Nascar cars as they slow for a turn).

How cool would it be to install those exhaust tip spark plug igniters on a Cobra!!! (I know they are highly illegal)

Although, you would probably melt your rear fenders after a while.
