I have done it for years as well. As long as it is done right. Matching seed with rpm everything works well.

To entertain myself during my college commute, I would see if I could make it from home to college with out the clutch. I actually did it once. I had a Chevy pickup with an extra low gear. Rolled out of my parking spot to start and put it in gear and rolled it right into a parking space.

I have noticed it doesn't work as well with a new-tight trans. I waited about 2k on my cobra tremac.
