This explains why the other tank he built had the filler neck coming from the top of the tank. He couldn't work out why they asked for it, because you'd have two bends in the filler neck and lose some boot space.
I've gone for the bigger tank so perhaps the filler inlet sits higher? If not I'll probably cut a recess into the fibreglass floor panel - easier than adapting the tank. As for mufflers... I hadn't thought of that. When I'm under there on the weekend it's certainly something to ponder.
Hopefully I'll be able to give some better answers once I've removed the brackets from the back of the diff and fitted the tank properly.
Bruce I'll probably use gauges from Howard's Instruments, which I think run VDO internals? That pump has a fuel level sender built in, so I hope my sparky can work the necessary magic between the instruments and the loom.
