From what I have learned doing my research the same as you are doing, it is a matter of preference or desire. For me, I have 2 separate car dreams. 1 is to own a Cobra, and the other is to build a car from the ground up. My original thought on #2 was to either do a complete tear down on an existing car and restore/rebuild it. But when I started considering Kits, I realized that both my dreams can come in 1 package. I will have satisfied both of my dreams when I finish my kit. What happens after that does not matter. If I don't like the car the way I believe I will, I still had the satisfaction of building my own car from the ground up. That part of it I know I will like and enjoy. I still work on neighbors and friends cars for little to no money, use my garage, and my tools simply because I love cars, I find that they are the 1 complete stress reliever for me. I can work on a car and forget everything. My wife has to stop me to eat.

To sum up how bad I am, last week, I enjoyed removing the heads from a 99 Ford Taurus, they were warped. The heads were not real bad, so they were reworked and it was re-assembled. Car runs great now. I have considered using this to my advantage and doing a lot of cars for a quick cash flow, but not many people will trust a stranger that is not ASE certified. Plus I am afraid of turning what I love to do into something that I have to do.
