Are you aware that Hurricane and Shell valley off their turnkey minus cars for the same price as a backdraft? And they are more period correct. Nothing against BDR, but there are at least 3 options for a turn key minus car.

rspears, from what I've seen, there are lovers of the aluminum FFR setups and there are haters. Everyone is different. the FFR is harder to seal up because of it.

Did you check out SV and HM websites? They both are similar in construction. Both have open bottom frames just like all the other kits out there, and they both have steel foot boxes.
