Many of the SA Police have a hand held
dB meter and when they are next to you at the lights or you are driving past they can point it in your direction.
One young guy in town here was put off for 96db - I saw the report it stated..
Vehicle defected due to excessive noise. Vehicle to be returned to the manaufacturers specification.
