That does seem to be a lot of voltage for a residential area but they step the voltage up to compensate for loss and that is why you see so many transformers mounted on poles is to bring it back down to the 110/120 level for homes. I believe it leaves our small sub station about 3/4ths of a mile from here at around 30,000 volts. It leaves the big one at the dam at well over 100,000 volts.
Never tell someone to not look at anything. That is like the Don't Touch or Wet Paint signs.
Darn, I don't pay much attention to post count and never realized I was close to that level. Throw out all the ones that don't help anyone and it would be closer to 2,000.
