I don't know if you have a regular training course in your area or not. The man that teaches the one here is a former head of homicide detective from L.A. and a certified N.R.A. teacher. I have known him for years and since I live about a 10 minute drive from the range see him there often. The required safety course here runs 4 hours and like some of your people, we get some that have never held a gun before. And John changes the shooting around from time to time. I like this range and it just costs $8 dollars plus whatever you spend on ammo and targets if you are a member. I still have three free passes from when I paid my dues as I haven't been going lately.
