I used MX5 side indicators - circular and about 50m diameter from memory so modestly large but quite flat and low profile.
I made mine fit into lower rear corner of the side vent cutout and can also fit the side vents in place.
Half a thought that after engineering these lights might fall off the car with no residual trace of fitment as I made a frame that screws into the front face of the footwell to hold each bulb and light.
