The standard lip on the slabside did not look like the ones in the picture however, many of the slabsides had various flare styles added to allow bigger rubber for racing. There is an original slabside in the Tricounty area that not only had flares added but also had cutouts added to the front fenders, 427 style, to allow a 427 style exhaust to be mounted on the car. Hod rodders in the 60's weren't shy about modifying their cars in all kinds of ways to get more performance or attention for them.
