Two thousand sounds ok and you might even go a little lower if it will idle well while cold. It gets cold here, but very few times does it get down into the low teens. And with mine in the garage and no choke, I just ran it at about 2000 until it warmed up enough to idle on its own. In fact the papers on the engine said to not run it above 2000 until the
oil and water had came up to temp. If you want I would be happy to store yours for the Winter and drive it on any good days we may have.
