I would think it's going to be difficult to repliace the Bill Boards with 'street' tires just for a track day or two. Reality being what it is, I'd run the Bill Boards, even if I was a 'newbie'. How about RAISING the tire pressure to 35-40 is you want to LOOSE some of the traction the Bill Boards offer.
Would raising the pressure be equal to running 'street' tires, if the concern is for a newbie with to much traction? I know it makes a big difference on mine when I crank up the pressure.
On both the Excalibur and my ERA the cars were delivered to me with street tires, traction was a serious issue. Oh sure, I quickly learned how dang easy it was to 'spin out' with those worthless hides! The first modification I did on BOTH cars was get some decent rubber under them to gain some control!
