Hey everyone!
Looks like there was a pretty good reception to the idea for a breakfast/toy drive/santa hat run and details are below. Want to try to keep everything simple and organized so here goes...
1. Breakfast
-Saturday Dec 15th, 9am Meet for breakfast at Perko's Cafe (formerly Bradshaw's) near Hwy 50 and Bradshaw.
I have already spoken with Perko's they have plenty of room. They said they can host 30-50 for breakfast but I need to let them know beforehand. There is lots of parking at the restaurant and they also have permission to park across the street at the Travelodge if needed. Address is 9647 Micron Ave, Sacramento, CA 95827, USA. Map here:

2. Toy drive to benefit UC Davis Med Center Pediatric dept. (located in Sacramento)
-UCD Med Center has 56 beds that include their pediatric cardiology and cancer units. I propose a goal of atleast 56 stuffed animals for us to provide to the kids there. If each person brings 1 or 2 (preferably) we can easily meet that goal. Please remember these kids are very sick and must be in a clean environment. With that in mind, all stuffed animals must be new, and must be wrapped in a clear plastic bag or box of some sort. That will help for a germ-free delivery to the kids.
So after breakfast we will cruise over to the hospital and deliver the stuffed animals around 11am. My contact over there is very excited about the idea. I'm sure the kids and thier parents will love it. Address is: 2315 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817, USA Map here:

Note: I am given to understand that there is limited parking at the hospital. I will go down there next week and have a look & see what can be done to make parking a little more feasible for our group.
3. Santa Hat Run
At the risk of actually planning a run in advance, and for simplicity I propose the aptly named "Gary River Run" and I nominate Gary r8rvenm to lead the cruise if attending. As I understand it is I5 north a bit, exit Garden Highway, take a left and cruise up the river a while. Gary just turn off the nitrous bottle so we can keep up!
A few things to keep in mind:
-Santa Hats/antlers/elf hats required! You can get a santa hat at the dollar store so no excuses.
-This is a rain or shine event! Past events have been pushed out or cancelled due to rain, not this one. If it rains throw on the top or drive the other car, it will still be fun.
-Please post your commitment if you are coming, how many people, how many toys you will be bringing. This way I can track the numbers for the restaurant, and how close we are to meeting our goal for the toy drive.
Lastly, thank you in advance for your participation. As I mentioned yesterday this is a personal thing for me as my baby girl has congenital heart disease. She had open heart surgery at just 2 weeks old and I know a little bit about what these kids and their parents go through. Thanks to God and the medical staff at UCSF my daughter is alive and very well now at 18 months(and she is running all over the house!) It will be a memorable and fun experience and maybe we can even brighten the day of a few sick kids here in town.
So... time to get the "count me in" list started:
Attending: 2 and 1/2... Justin, Rachel and baby Alyssa
Bringing: 2 stuffed animals
Please reply accordingly.
Thank you,
Justin
