I was thinking you wanted to repair threads in a casting. My oversight. As far as the 2 wrench mode, it will work if done carefully. Some of the kits have a hex shaped tool with a serated nose that keeps the insert from spinning while a hex wrench tightens a screw that neatly collapses the insert sandwiching the parent metal.
