Hi Chris.
Thanks for your email. As discussed, I’ll table your requested change at the TAC meeting on Wednesday.
For your info, the NT may accept side pipes for this type of vehicle however the exhaust outlets would need to discharge to the right hand side and/or to the left hand side of the vehicle and downwards at an angle of horizontal of not less than 15 degrees and not more than 45 degrees.
It should also be understood that whilst side pipes may be acceptable on certain vehicles in the NT (such as Cobra replicas), they may not necessarily be acceptable for operation or registration in another jurisdiction.

Hi Bill
Due to the difficulty in sourcing a 4L80E or a 6L80E I would like to use a T56 6 speed manual instead.
I would like to fit side pipes to keep it as original as I can, the application paperwork doesn't require any exhaust specs so I would like to have the side pipes on the approval if possible.
Thanks

Chris
Copy of AIP is attached.
I have spoken with Bill today who confirmed that the Department will be satisfied with compliance with ADR 37/01 for emissions as opposed to ADR 79/00.
Bill may want to further discuss this with you on his return.
