Geez Morgan, I think you should refuse delivery- 601 is not quite enough!
I also heard the same thing regarding aluminum flywheels on the street. I know a lot of people use them, but Gessford recommend a McLeod lightweight steel flywheel instead, which is what I used. So far so good, I have no complaints with the speed at which the motor winds up.
