1000 th. POST!!
Many moons ago B.C (Before Cobra) I posted my first post here on ClubCobra.
During the next 998 posts I managed to make many friends and some enemies. I believe the friends made will last a lifetime, and the enemies will have a shorter shelf life.
It all started with some comments and experiences that were not very complimentary. We have come a complete circle.
Thanks to Bob Marsh, Kris Kinkaid, and Shaun, today I have a better taste in my mouth towards SAI and their place in the Cobra community.
Thanks to the efforts of above listed folk, I now have a poster depicting the picture of my car signed by Carroll gracing the walls of my office.
I have elected to use this special occasion to post my 1000th. post - here on the Shelby section.
I have not much to say, other than to hope and invite all of us who find ourselves in opposite corners sometimes to look at the bigger picture and do all we can towards the future of the very car we all love.
Our differences; Aluminum vs. fiberglaas, -Small block vs. Big block,- Real vs. Replica, is small in comparison to our passion and love for these automobiles.
I invite all the warring parties to do what is right for the very car that brings us together as well as tear us apart.
The lawyers, the companies building them, even those of us who own these cars will come and go. If everyone acted in the interest of our beloved car, the Cobra will be here for our sons and daughters to enjoy for years to come.
Do we not realize, the cars we have bought, built and sold will be here long after we are gone?
Carroll is not a young man any more, neither are most of us who own these cars. Take a look at the shinny car sitting in your garage today. The one you keep polishing and racing every chance you get. It will be here 10-20-30 years from now. Will you?
Let the parties that find themselves at the mercy of lawyers and courts today find a more civilized way of dealing with one other and look forward to the day where we are all pulling the same direction.
There are enough external pressures on all of us today. Product liability, Law Makers, regulators, Enviromentalists, rising gas prices, diminishing open roads, speed limits, rising cost of building maintaining and insuring. The engines that made history are now available on a hit and miss basis, at unbelievable and unaffordable prices.
Don't we have enough going against us that more obstacles to survive and co-exist are no longer a priority? Exclusivity will not remain as such for long even if the right or the wrong side wins. There is strength in numbers, not weakness.
I post my 1000th. post looking forward to better days and times. I wish others would do the same.
At the mean time, I pass my enduring respect and admiration to Carroll and his contribution to my most prized possession outside of my family. You made a dream come alive, stay alive and then become a reality.
You will not be forgotten anytime soon.
