Yes, turn the drill CCW. If you have a HV pump, you'll need a healthy drill. Don't use a battery powered drill motor, it will burn it up.

I usually pull the valve covers off and turn until the oil comes out of the pushrods. Sometimes, you need to turn the engine over a couple turns while priming to get oil to come out of all the pushrods.

Also, if you're running hydraulic roller lifters, it takes quite awhile for them to fill up and then push oil through the pushrods.
