The acid test is measuring the stroke . If it's a 428 it will have a 3.98" stroke. 427,406,390, will have 3.78" stroke 352 has a 3.50" stroke. Who would try to pass a 427 off as a 428? The heads are a big part of the value. There are special heads in each engine combination that made them produce.
