Steve, plug your antenna into the back of a laptop and get connected. Then pick up the computer and start to walk away from the router. That will tell you how good it is. I used to do this test regularly when installing the routers.
I usually got about 300 to 350 feet and the connection would be dropped. It is RF so weather or not, the connection should be maitained. I mean, there is no "skip" going on.
