Also, when checking grounds, check the battery ground as well. That one is overlooked commonly as most people don't think to check it. The buzzing/shorting sound could be a bad connection at the fuse box. Check the connections there to be sure everything is getting good contact. If you have a multimeter, check the resistance across the fuses as well. Rarely, but I have seen the barrel fuses blow or break from vibration in the caps. You can't tell by looking through the glass.
