Default The motor is new, and not broken in

Scufty Scuf if you have a chance in the future a first name would be nice. You have a new motor with no miles on it, the rings and not broken in yet to start. Check this first, start the motor and get to operation temps. Unhook the hose to the carb for the PCV. At idle is there any smoke coming from the hose? If no, rev the motor to 2,000 rpm if no, there is no blowby on the rings. This doesn't mean that the oil rings couldn't be installed wrong with the ends gapped in the same spot or too much gap or no gap causing too much vacuum in the motor. Hook a vacuum gauge to the motor at the pvc valve and rev the motor, see if there is any more the 1-2 pounds of pressure. I forgot to ask are you running gapless rings? if yes they will pull oil from anywhere and burn it. There is special needs for these rings. I had the same problem with a pont 400 motor and sucking oil from the motor, ended up changing to moly rings and the problem stopped. If all the valves have oil on them, it is a PCV problem if only a couple of cylinders have the oil I would look at the valve stem seals. It is real easy to damage them on installation. You need to use the sleeve to slide the seals on. I use oil, not the dry way. Who's seals are they? Are they teflon with the 2 springs on them? Mic the valve stem and make sure you have the right ones. You could put 3/8" on 11/32 stems and they work but leak down. Whats the size of the valve stems? What size is the guide boss? There are 4 combos for the FE heads. K.I.S.S. ( keep it simple silly) Scuf try not to over think this, again the motor is NOT broken in. Mic the parts and if you have a couple of pictures this would help. Rick L. Ps is it possible that you have problems with the drains from the heads because the gaskets can block upto 1/2 the openings. I have seen this more than once. This would cause an oiling problem with the PCV. Which intake are you running? All this info helps narrow down the problem. We will fix it
