Any carb'd engine with an aftermarket camshaft and intake manifold designed to run cooler for better performance will tend to be cold-blooded. Many aftermarket or performance carbs do not have the provisions for a choke or are adjusted to be OFF very quickly - again performance related.

In the end it is easier to peddle the car a little until warm than change plugs that are fouled from aggressive choke settings and big cams. Just part of the nature of the beast but not all engines or set ups have this issue. Learn to peddle the car long enough to warm her up or buy a less spirited engine combo or add a choke are all options for you. Yes injection will control idle electronically if that is your choice. ENJOY what ever ya get.
