As an ex "unofficial" cobra (mustang,corvette,MGB,TR6, camaro,to name a few) trader I have to say that I am amazed that you are complaining about a deal gone sour, especially since you are the one who did not follow the deal as set forth by your own negotiations. Every deal I've ever brokered pretty much states that if you do not come up with the funds over a set period of time, you lose your deposit. That is done to weed out the wannabe owners from those who will follow through in the time period alloted. My time is valuable and is not to be wasted, as is the time and effort it takes to find a buyer for a particular car (bike, boat, house, commercial warehouse, etc and so forth), hence the deposit then covers my wasted time should a buyer back out of a deal because "the dog ate his money". In this case it sounds like JBo was quite patient with you, especially when you were the one to approach him on the potential sale of his car to you (or your brother)....Of course if you had told him you were a dealer/broker, I'm sure he would have told you to have all funds up front, as any real dealer would have his financing in order before making an offer on a car, if not, then that dealer/broker must not have his act together. Once again. I do hope you figure things out one way or the other, but coming on to a public forum as you did and trying to drag someone through the mud (metaphorically speaking) without telling the whole story seems to be a bit dastardly and certainly not the right way to handle things. You being from Australia has nothing to do with it, different time zone has nothing to do with it, you breaking your word and not following through in the time you yourself agreed to has all to do with it.
Sorry if my post is tough to read, I do have a tendency to ramble a bit but you will get my meaning as it does appear you are a smart man........
