As far as "Immagrants" go most American settelers were not exactly "the cream of the crop" taking a high risk boat ride across the Atlantic.
As to "tribal sensitivity" well, there are probably a few natives that still think taking their picture steals their soul.
Barring the recent political correctness, most people make fun of themselves as well as others. Would be awful boring if we were all the same. Acceptance of peoples differences and ideals is one thing, comprehension of them is another.
I've found I'm most offended when I'm looking to be offended, so I try not to look.
