Our Cosworth F-1 Engine qualified at 21,000 RPM in 2006 in the Williams car.
I believe it was the highest revving four stroke engine ever in F-1.
An F-1 engine does utilize pnuematic valve springs though...
Since I know the HP numbers from both the V-10's and V-8's in F-1
I can say the Champ Car engine made more power!
The F-1's did however; make upwords of 1,500 HP in the late 80's with their Turbo engines. They wouldn't last much longer than a qualifiying session though....
Also forgot to add the the $ comment....
Add a zero to the Champ Car engine cost above and you'll have F-1 costs.
