Default Pad Replacement on Outboard Braked Rear

Bob, on my ERA outboard rear with the Camaro PBR calipers that have the integrated emergency brake, pictured below, does pad replacement require the tool that rotates the piston back in to the caliper when compressing, or will a simple tried and true C-clamp and block of wood suffice to compress the piston?
