LOL...true about Rome, although I was there last year and found a quiet place to sit in the Colosseum and spent an hour just kind of 'detached'. I never have done any of the 'underground' tours, but I lived for a long time in London and Paris and have actually given some special tours in both cities to visitors who were staying with us. My son has been to the Forbidden City and says it is quite spectacular. Closest I got was a few years ago to Changi prison on Singapore where my dad was a prisoner during WWII...THAT was a VERY moving experience!!!!!

PS just read a book that explains the origin of the name of Rome (predates 'Romulus' by some 500 years). Turns out the Latin word for boar's teats is ruma and they thought the 7 hills originally looked like upturned pig's teats ( a little like the Grand Tetons I suppose) ruma gradually morphed into Roma
