The old Porsche 356s had wool square weave carpet that was hard to work with in areas similar to the cobra's tunnel cover. I always used a steamer when installing new carpet kits and it got rid of the wrinkles/kinks, etc. Just take your time and let the steam/heat do the work for you. I also used a small 3" wooden roller to assist me in pushing the hot carpet into tight spots, corners, and over humps. When the carpet cools it will tighten up, assume the shape of the area you are covering, and viola...no more problems.
