Well my day was interesting. I decided to build a new computer, my wife likes to play games and this one is starting to slow. It is 3 1/2 years old, and doesn't perform the way it used to. It is a P4 3.2 GHz, 2GB ram on a dual memory bus, 2 SATA Hard drives, Radeon 9250 256MB video card. It has been a great computer but when she is playing the games will pause for a moment then start playing again. It is fine for office applications and surfing as the small pauses don't really affect anything. We have been wanting a new PC to have 2 here at the house, so I decided to go ahead and build a screamer. The specs on the new one:
2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad processor
4 GB DDR2 ram on a dual Memory Bus,
Radeon HD 3650 512MB DDR2 PCI express video card (2 DVI outputs and 1 S-Video connector w/adapter for Component video (outputs in 1080i if selected.)
WD SATA300 320Gb HD
I figured that could handle a game or 50 of solitaire
Well I get everything put together and it will not see the DVD Burner. It was an old one that I had around so I went and got another. Same issue. After a little troubleshooting, I discover that the IDE port on the Mother Board is bad, so I have to take it back
. This was the last one they had, so I will have to look at the next level up. I guess I will be reassembling tomorrow night instead of testing it out tonight.
