On the "How much does your car cost?" question that we threaded a couple of weeks back, I had my ERA at a car show today and two late-teen girls were looking it over. I patiently explained what it was, how much fun it was to drive, etc. when one of them asked:
"How much did you pay for this?"
"Oh, I never tell," I replied.
"Really, c'mon tell us."
"No, I never tell."
"I bet it cost ten thousand dollars."
"Yes, you're right," I admitted.
"I knew it," she said.
Her friend then said to her "I think it might of cost more than that." But she was obviously not sure whether it did or not and the first girl was quite sure the car could be had for ten grand.
