Actually Ford started stamping VIN's on the HiPo blocks starting in 1965. Sorry, but it is a FORD, MCA, and SAAC documented fact on these cars.

1965/1966 "K" Code 289 4V HiPo engines
1967 "K" and "S" Code engines
1968 "J","S","R",and "Q" Code engines
