Don S.,
You know me, I
am the one to complain! And I'm doing it again. I know your welder thinks he is so good he doesn't need to use the Jigs, .....HE DOES!
You may or may not know the mess I ran into on Cpteddies hood this morning. The steel plates with the 1/4x20 nuts welded and glassed into the hood? Well the nuts had so much welding slag in them I couldn't run a tap through them and when I did the glue let loose inside allowing both welding plates to fall down inside the hood! OK, crap happens.
'You know I cut the door hinge plates right out of the cowel so the doors fit perfect without shims- my choice, but when it comes time to bolt up the hinges to the doors and the holes in the hinges
have never been tapped NOW that IS A HEADACHE. I wonder how many guys even know they ARE supposed to be tapped? I wonder how many parts went out without being tapped? When you get stuff straightened out tell those guys in the steel department that you are going to take away one of their coffee breaks!
