From the one who broke (his Mustang).
After the ECR race 3 weeks ago, I pulled out 1/2 of the chassis wiring and patched the harness to operate the required equipment. Then replaced the MSD box, coil and distributor. Put it on the track Thursday and it still didn't live up to the hype. A fellow racer let me borrow a Walt Haynes carburetor, and PRESTO, it ran better than ever.
Ran a few more times and qualified 14th out of 30 (not bad for a novice), while posting my best lap time ever at Hallett. But as vintage cars go, the last run of the day, the
oil temp jumped over 300 degrees and
oil pressure dropped to 10 psi. So the weekend was over. Didn't even get to run the Vintage Exhibition Race Friday. The main reason I traveled 300 miles.
So back in the trailer, home Friday night, and she's back on the lift. Probably spun an bearing. (sound familiar?)
I'll keep ya posted.
