Not Ranked
Hi Guys,
Not sure how the show and shine will go.
I'm o.k. with the individual presidents or clubs nominating their top 5 or so cars for the judging, because that is a flippin nightmare trying to spend the time to judge nearly 100 cars, when most of us can see who is in the running at first glance.
But.... does that mean that all the cars won't be allowed out in the pack for "showing off" purposes ?
What I'm saying is , the trophies are nice to get, and can certainly reward and are appreciated by those who win them, but personally I love the chance to see all of the cars together, and see what everyone has done to make their cars a bit better/different to the others.
So , I'm assuming that all of the cars get to line up ,
(out on the track like last year? )...
and we all get to see them at their best, but at the same time have already nominated the selected cars for the judges to choose from.
Let me know if I've got that wrong.
As far as the working out the different race classes....I'm happy with the current format....it's as good as any!
We could change it every year until everyone got a trophy, but what's the point of that ??
In almost every case, it's about having tons of fun driving a powerful car above normal street limits, and then the thrill of learning how to go a bit quicker than you did last time.
I know in the "Canetoad Group" the emphasis is almost always on P.B.s
I know that all of the drivers admire those who can push their Cobras/GT40s into the 1m.05sec to 1m.08sec times around Wakefield park , and I'm sure they all appreciate that it's not all about the horsepower, but that it takes some considerable skill to achieve, and they should get a trophy for their efforts....
But talk to the guy (or gal ) who just improved their P.B. from 1m 20sec down to 1m 19sec, and he can't keep his hat on , because he's so pleased with the time...and I think that's what it's all about when you're competing at the Nationals.
On behalf of the whole Queensland gang, I will also add a huge thankyou to the guys who are making all of this happen, and you should know that we all appreciate the efforts.
I've had a bit of experience over the years of being part of a small group trying to organize a happening or event for a large group, and I know you can't please everyone, but as long as you are willing to listen to different ideas, and choose the best options, then it will keep almost everyone happy.
The people who are making this effort , can most likely make good use of this forum, for perhaps some improved ideas...... either way....thanks for putting together an event that I love and look forward to every year.
My two cents worth !
Regards to all, and look forward to seeing you all in October.
